Museum offers free Saturday admission

PIPESTONE — The Pipestone County Museum is again offering free admission on Saturdays now through Memorial Day weekend.

The exhibits currently on display at the museum include: “125 Years, Pipestone Fire Department,” featuring photographs and equipment used by the fire department over the years, including a man-pulled hose cart. Also on display is an exhibit featuring the Pipestone National Monument and one on the Pipestone County Country Schools. Other featured displays include Native American Beadwork, railroads and more.

On-going displays include hands-on children’s interactives such as animal furs, animal track magnets, crayon rubbings and a beading loom. Also currently on exhibit is Bert Schelhaas’s stained-glass collection, through the end of March.

The Pipestone County Museum is located at 113 S. Hiawatha Ave., Pipestone. The museum’s regular winter hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
