NCC bond vote is today
SHELDON, Iowa -- Voters in Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties will go the polls today to consider passage of a 15-year, $13.4 million general obligation bond for Northwest Iowa Community College.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8p.m. today. In addition being open in the aforementioned counties, they will also be open in Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School District in Cherokee County.
Should the bond issue be passed, a total of $7.25 million will go toward Career and Technical Building improvements. A total of $3.05 million is designated for advanced technology, and $3.1 million is slated for mechanical and electrical system upgrades.
This is the third time in less than two years that NCC is seeking approval for the bond issue. Most recently -- in April 2011 -- 59.9 percent of voters approved, just shy of the required 60 percent.
