Nobles County Speedway celebrates Fourth of July
WORTHINGTON -- The Nobles County Speedway celebrated the Fourth of July weekend Sunday night with a full slate of racing. The evening's action was sponsored by Fulda Area Credit Union and AmericInn Lodge and Suites.
More racing, sponsored by Graham Tire, is scheduled for Sunday. Here are the past week's results:
Todd Uhl jumped out front at the green flag with Kenny Johnson, Elray Sybesma and Joey Streeter falling into place behind. Sybesma and Streeter battled for third and fourth.
Uhl held on at the checkered to get the win, with Johnson placing second. Streeter was third and Sybesma fourth.
Eric Gaul and Dan Strandberg brought the field around to take the green. Strandberg grabbed the lead, and Gaul and Jerry Groenwold fought for second. Malik Sampson, Chad Lonnerman and Brad Halbur would battle three-wide when Gaul and Groenwold fell back.
Sampson took second and Lonnerman, Jeremy Van Ede and Justin Luinenburg battled three-wide with Lonnerman falling back to fight with Halbur for fifth place at the halfway mark. Lonnerman would soon spin, bringing out the caution.
As they went back green Strandberg continued to lead, and Sampson and Van Ede went side by side for a lap when Justin Wildfeuer spun to bring out another caution flag. With another green Van Ede moved into second, Sampson held third and Halbur got around Luinenburg for fourth. Halbur, working on the inside of Sampson, spun for another caution.
Going back green Strandberg, Van Ede, Sampson, Luinenburg and Cory Probst raced for the top five. Coming out of corner four, Van Ede -- on the outside -- would spin, bringing out the caution yet again.
Strandberg went on to get the win, with Probst second and Lonnerman third. Sampson took fourth and Groenwold made his way back up to fifth.
Collen DeRuyter and Steve Bents brought the cars around to take the green. DeRuyter would emerge with the lead; Dan Ahlers would take second and Bents fell to third.
Ahlers, on the move, took the lead, and DeRuyter and Bents were battling for second when DeRuyter spun to bring out the caution. The top five going back green were Ahlers, DeRuyter, Jason Fisher, Ray Bertrand and Brady Joynt.
Fisher soon passed DeRuyter for second, with Bertrand maintaining the fourth spot. Bents would later move back into the pack and rally into the third position.
Ahlers went on to get the win. Fisher was second, Bents third, Bertrand fourth and DeRuyter fifth.
Luke Sathoff, Dustin Larson and Jeffrey Larson battled right from the start for the lead, with Sathoff edging past the Larsons for the top spot. Dustin and Jeffrey went side by side for second and Jack Byers spun, resulting in a caution flag.
As they went green, Sathoff had the lead with Jeffrey Larson second. Falck moved into third, Dustin Larson fell to fourth and Klaassen maintained fifth. Ricky Prins would spin, bringing out the caution.
Sathoff, Jeffrey Larson and Falck went three-wide after the drivers went green once more, and Jeffrey took the lead. Dustin Larson moved into second, Jim Larson took third, and Sathoff and Falck dropped back to fourth, and fifth, respectively, at the halfway mark. Sathoff would later bring out a caution flag.
Jeffrey and Dustin would look to hold off their dad, and as they went back green Jim took the high side and fells back. Jim, Cory Groenwold and Dave Peterson later got together, bringing out the caution. Rich Gregoire soon passed Falck for third. As they took the white flag, Gregoire was on the inside of Dustin for second and Falck was on the high side battling with Klaassen.
Jeffrey Larson went on take the checkered flag, with Dustin Larson keeping second. Gregoire was third, Klaassen fourth and Falck fifth.
Don Gerritsen Jr. took the lead in the caution-free race. Dwaine Hanson and Jason Briese went side by side for second, with Justin Anderson fourth and Warren Vanwesten fifth.
Hanson, on the high side, grabbed possession of second. Anderson, trying to get under Briese for third, made the pass.
Gerritsen went on to get the win. Hanson was second, Anderson takes third, Briese fourth and Vanwesten fifth.
