PLANNING COMMISSION

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The City of Worthington Planning Commission will hold two public hearings on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, for the purpose of considering the following business:

• Variance - Robert & Lori Bristow have submitted a variance application for the property they own at 417 Lake Avenue. If approved, the applicants will be allowed to exceed the maximum building coverage by 140 square feet for the construction of a 24' x 24' detached garage. According to City Code, the maximum building coverage for residential properties is 30%. With the completion of the proposed improvements, the subject property would have a 32.8% building coverage. The legal description of the subject property under consideration is as follows:

The northwesterly 50 feet of the southeasterly 100 feet of Lot 13, Block 2, Park Addition, City of Worthington, Nobles County, Minnesota

• Variance - Mark Riley has submitted a variance application for the property he owns at 1914 Summit Avenue. If approved, the applicant will be allowed to encroach 5.3 feet into the required 10' side yard setback to construct a 9 foot addition to the existing attached garage. According to City Code, a 10 foot side yard setback is required for all primary structures, including attached garages, located in an “R-1” zoning district, which is the zoning classification of the subject property. The legal description of the subject property under consideration is as follows:

Lot 28, Block 4, Lakeview Heights Addition, City of Worthington, Nobles County, Minnesota

The public hearings will be held in the City Council Chambers, at City Hall, 303 Ninth St., Worthington, Minnesota, at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. At the hearings, the Planning Commission will hear staff’s report and public testimony and may take action. All interested persons are invited to attend and be heard.
