house girl, helping various farm families. On July 31, 1943 she and Dennis (Dan) Woitaszewski were married in Lawton, Okla., where Dan was in basic training for the Army. Following marriage and Dan's return from the service, they worked for several farmers in the area. They later lived in Iona for several years, and moved to Slayton in 1956. Over the years, Cornie did housekeeping for many families in Slayton, and became lifelong friends with many of the people she worked for. She and Dan were custodians for the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton and she continued on with that work for a total of 29 years, until her retirement in 2001. Dennis passed away on November 7, 1978. In December 2003 Cornie became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton. In February 2008 she moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton and passed away there on April 20, 2008 at the age of 84.
