Obituary: Darlene Kness

Darlene Freida Kness, 79, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was born November 10, 1933, in Elk Twp., Nobles County, MN, a daughter of the late Fred and Tillie Osterkamp. She was married to Norman Kness on July 12, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they spent 22.5 years in the United States Air Force. Upon retiring from military service, they owned and operated Norm's Small Engine in Worthington, MN for a few years, then moved to Coolidge, AZ and owned and operated Kness Jewelers until 1985. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with her friends, crocheting, reading, crafts and tending to her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband, Norman of Worthington, MN; and four children, Bruce Kness (Bev) of Worthington, MN, Renee Mosura (Frank) of Industry, PA, Denise Larson (Robert) of Red Wing, MN, and Mark Kness of Albert Lea, MN; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Buckins of Sydney, Australia, Frank Mosura of Columbus Air Force Base, MS, Jeremy Kness (Katy) of Duluth, MN, Alissa Schrieder (Richard) of Vandenburg Air Force Base, CA, Nathan Kness of Worthington, Kyle Larson (Amy) of Burnsville, MN, Derek Kness of Mankato, MN, Christopher Larson of Red Wing, MN, Nicholas Larson of Minneapolis, MN; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Amelia Kness of Duluth, MN; and one sister, Marlene Jurgensen of Worthington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers and a grandson, Matthew Kness.

She will be sadly missed and remain in our hearts forever.

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Benson Funeral Home, Worthington. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Tom Braun Officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Arrangements are with Benson Funeral Home, Worthington.
