Obituary: Elden Rance
Elden Wayne Rance, 70, of North Port, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2008.
Elden was born on June 13, 1938, in Egeland, North Dakota to Charles and Bernice (Hall) Rance.
His successful career in banking and finance began with First Bank System (now US Bank) in Minot, North Dakota. From an entry level beginning, intuition and training served him well through positions in Huron, Madison and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Transfer to Worthington, Minnesota offered the opportunity to consolidate banks, form a holding company and purchase the local bank, where Elden served as owner and President until his retirement in 1988. Elden stayed active in business after his "retirement" with a retail business, creation of multiple holding and leasing entities, and providing leadership to facilitate a corporation's public offering. His enjoyment of golf was eventually overridden by his passion for sailing. His romance with the water, from co-founding the Lake Madison (South Dakota) Yacht Club to open water ocean sailing, remained intact through several boats and many adventures.
Elden is survived by his wife, Linda (Sorensen), daughter Wendy (Jim) Hunt, Lake Ann, MI, granddaughters Angelyn, Andrea, Aleah and Anna; daughter Penny (Stephen) Murray, Tampa, FL, and grandson, Nathaniel; daughter, Kerry (Andrew) Ostergren Yanez, Lino Lakes, MN, grandson Michael, granddaughter Kaitlyn and grandson Evan; Greg (Shawrene)Rance, St. Paul, MN; son by marriage, Eric (Winnie) Musser, Hopkins, MN; and daughter by marriage, Heidi (Musser) Gauss (Jeff) and grandsons Justus, Tranquil and Noble.
Life Celebration arrangements are private. Elden believed that life was an adventure to be shared with others and lived to the fullest.
