Obituary: Henning Jurgen Laffrenzen
Henning Jurgen Laffrenzen, 92, of Worthington, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota.
Born August 28, 1915, in Hartley, Iowa, he was the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Groth) Laffrenzen.
He was baptized on September 19, 1916. Henning married Gertie Sachen on
March 6, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushmore, Minnesota. He grew up in Hartley and Everly, Iowa and then moved to the Worthington area. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in the Worthington and Reading areas.
They retired from farming in 1983 and moved into Worthington. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington for 62 years.
Henning loved farming and working with the crops and livestock. He also did carpentry work for himself and for others. After retiring from farming he enjoyed collecting toy tractors, puttering in his garage,
watching baseball on television and playing cards with family and friends.
Henning is survived by three children, James Laffrenzen, and his wife, Paula of Worthington, MN, Lois (Laffrenzen) Rust, and her husband,
John of Deerwood, MN, and Duane Laffrenzen, and his wife, Toni of New Ulm, MN; six grandchildren, Michelle (Laffrenzen) Siem, and her husband, Landon, and their children, Mariah, Dawson, and Tallon of Sioux Falls, SD, Dawn (Laffrenzen) Kerkaert, and her husband, Travis of Tea, SD, Michael Rust, and his wife, Christy, and their children, Cameron, Makayla, and Aaron of Milaca, MN, Gregory Laffrenzen, and his wife, Afton of Otsego, MN, David Laffrenzen, of New Ulm, MN, and adopted granddaughter, Melissa Rust, two sisters, Betty (Laffrenzen) Zonker of Rancho Sante Fe, CA, and Katie Laffrenzen of Los Angeles, CA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev.
Robert Schulze officiating. Henning's grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and on Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington.
