Obituary: Kenneth Peterson
Kenneth G. Peterson, born May 31, 1917, on the family farm in LaCrosse Township near Heron Lake, MN, to Carl and Emma Eidhammer Peterson, died August 8, 2008, in Janesville, Minnesota. (A lover of calendars, dates, and numbers, he certainly would have appreciated the auspiciousness and symmetry of the date -- 8/8/08.) Kenneth received his degree in math from St. Olaf College in 1939 and his masters degree in physics from the University of North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and worked for Nortronics and Honeywell, as well as teaching math and music. He was a resident of rural Sandstone for over 30 years, where he savored the solitude and natural wonders around him. Kenneth had a passion for math, puzzles, grammar, and cartoons, which he endeavored to pass on to all whom he met. He was known far and wide for entertaining family and friends for hours with brain teasers and mind-bending puzzles, which few could decipher; family gatherings will be humdrum without him. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brothers. He is survived by five sisters, many nieces and nephews, and good friends.
