Obituary: Lawrence Salentiny
Lawrence Salentiny, the son of John and Minnie Haybeck Salentiny, was born on May 27, 1921 in Dundee, MN. He grew up near Dundee and attended country school.
Lawrence entered the U.S. Army in July of 1942 and served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic during WWII. After his Honorable Discharge in February 1946 he returned to Minnesota and started farming northwest of Dundee.
Lawrence was united in marriage to Blanche Sullivan on June 21, 1950 at
St. Ann's Church in Waubun, MN. After their marriage they lived and
farmed on the family farm. Lawrence also worked for Mortenson construction in Dundee. They retired from farming in 1985 and moved into Fulda in 1991. Lawrence continued helping out on the farm for many years. He remained at home after Blanche passed away on October 7, 2000. Lawrence entered the Our House Hospice Home in Slayton on May 7, 2008 and passed away there on May 16, 2008 at the age of 85.
Survivors include his six children and their spouses, Diane (Joe) Wrobleski of Rochester, Kathy (Earl) Thurston of Fulda, Kenny (Cathy) Salentiny, of Fulda, Mary Ann (Wayne) Sieverding of Dundee, Sandy (Jim)
Schettler of Wilmont, and Steve (Margie) Salentiny of Dundee; 24 grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe (Alice) Salentiny of Dundee and one sister, Mary (Joe) McCarvel of Brewster.
The service will be at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church Fulda, MN at
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 with the Fr. Bob Horihan celebrating. Interment at
St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Dundee, MN.
Visitation will one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
