Obituary: Lillian Nordell
Lillian Nordell, 94, of Arden Hills and formerly of Worthington, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Presbyterian Homes in Arden Hills, MN.
She was born in Crosby, MN, on June 20, 1914, to Margretha (Hawkinson) and Ernest Eckstrom. Lillian graduated from Upsala High School and the University of Minnesota, and taught Home Economics in Cambridge, where she met her husband, Edwin G. Nordell. They were married on January 17, 1943, and lived in several locations during Ed's training with the U.S. Army prior to his deployment to Europe during WWII. During the war, Lillian worked as a home extension agent in Meeker and Anoka counties. In 1949, they moved to Worthington, started Nordell Electric and became active members of Indian Lake Baptist Church. She was widowed in August of 1991, and in October of 1994 married Albin Nelson who passed away in December of 1995. In 2001, she moved to assisted living in Walker, and in 2002 to Alzheimer care at Presbyterian Homes in Roseville, MN.
Lillian is survived by her four children, Daniel (Kathy) Nordell of Lexington, Paul (Mary) Nordell of Roseville, Carol (Scott) Gustafson, of Walker, and John (Kristie) Nordell of Worthington, and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church near Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug Roth officiating. Burial will be held in the Indian Lake Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Indian Lake Baptist Church near Worthington.
