Obituary: Marrietta Fischer
Marrietta Ardell Fischer was born on Dec 6, 1925 at the farm of her parents, John and Bessie (Smith) Heinrichs in Afton Twp. of Artesian, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church. During her youth she attended Afton Twp. School until she entered high school at Artesian where she graduated in 1944. She worked as an assistant post mistress at Artesian post office for two and half years until she married Harold Adam Fischer at the Methodist church on June 29, 1947 at Artesian, South Dakota. They farmed in Middletown Twp. for eight years after their marriage and attended Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson. In 1956, they moved to Rost Twp. where they bought a farm and later joined the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sioux Valley. She farmed with her husband and kept busy cooking for hired help. She belonged to Middletown Club and later was a member of the neighborhood Birthday Club where she enjoyed her friends. She taught Sunday school for 15 years and also served in many offices in the Trinity Ladies Aid. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and had visited the Holy Lands, Africa, Europe, and Hawaii.
Marrietta is survived by one son, Darrell Fischer and his wife Janet of Lakefield, MN; two daughters, Marless and her husband Gary Milbrath of Worthington, MN and Marilyn and her husband Loren Tusa of Alpha, MN; six grandsons and one granddaughter; one brother, John Heinrichs Jr. of Silver City, New Mexico and two sisters, Mildred Gluhm of Rapid City, South Dakota and Henrietta Burns and husband Everett of Farmington, IA.
Marrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Harold and her parents.
Funeral service will be on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 9:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota with Pastor Gerald Gauthier officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery - Jackson.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 9-28-08, from 3 to 6 PM at the Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson and on Monday - one hour prior to the service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sanford Hospice Sunset Cottage in Worthington, MN or Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Sioux Valley. MN.
