O’Brien County Fair begins Saturday
PRIMGHAR, Iowa — Saturday marks the kickoff of the 2014 O’Brien County Fair. The event will be at the O’Brien County Fair Grounds and ends July 25 with a teen dance. It features a mixture of livestock shows and other activities.
Here is the full schedule of events:
Saturday
9 a.m.: 4-H Non-livestock judging at Primghar Community Center
9 a.m.: Eighth annual Antique/Classic Tractor Ride
10:30 a.m.: Open Class craft judging
7 p.m.: Auto races sponsored by Primghar Jaycees
Sunday
1 p.m.: Horse Show
Monday
9 a.m.: Rabbit Show
12 p.m.: Broiler Contest judging
12:30 p.m.: Live Poultry judging followed by baby chicks class
1:30 p.m.: Advanced Lamb Pen evaluation, Sheep Show (immediately following Pen Lambs), Goat Show (immediately following Sheep Show), Bottle Lamb Show (immediately following Goat Show)
5 p.m.: Dairy Show
5 p.m.: Bill Riley Talent Search Show
7:30 p.m.: Fair Queen and King coronation
Tuesday
7 a.m. to 10 a.m.: O’Brien County 4-H Foundation pancake breakfast
8 a.m.: Beef Show
9 a.m.: 4-H Exhibit Building opens (Special K’z the Clown entertainment in afternoon)
4 p.m.: Bottle/Bucket Calf Show
4 p.m to 8 p.m.: Kock’s Mini-Train and Ferris Wheel rides
6 p.m.: Pedal Tractor Pull
7:30 p.m.: Live entertainment by Six Appeal
Wednesday
7:30 a.m.: Swine Show
9 a.m.: Discovering 4-H Pet Show followed by 4-H Show
10:30 a.m.: Dog Show (or immediately following Pet Show)
2 p.m.: “Tie on an Apron” program with Myrna Heimensen in the Open Class Craft Building
3:30 p.m.: Quilt Turning Program in the Open Class Craft Building
3:30 p.m.: Livestock Judging Contest
5 p.m.: Bill Riley Talent Search
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.: O’Brien County Farm Bureau Watermelon Feed
