Ocheyedan, Iowa, man found guilty
SIBLEY, Iowa -- A 62-year-old Ocheyedan, Iowa, man was found guilty June 28 of third-degree sexual abuse.
Ernest Marienous Christensen was committed to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for no more than 10 years. He will also be credited for time served since his arrest on March 5. A special sentence committing Christensen to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for the rest of the Christensen's life was also imposed, with eligibility for parole, after completion of his sentence.
Christensen was ordered to comply with the Sex Offender Registry requirements of Iowa and sentenced to pay the minimum fine of $1,000 plus a 35 percent surcharge, with the fine and surcharge are suspended. A No Contact Order presently in place will continue through Christensen's incarceration and parole, and he was ordered to give a bodily substance for DNA testing.
Christensen was delivered to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale, Iowa, by Osceola County sheriff's deputies. He had been arrested March 5 by an Osceola County deputy on charges of incest, a Class D felony, and sexual abuse third-degree, a Class C felony, for allegedly committing a sex act with a child.
