Orville Ruesch, the son of John and Minnie (Behr) Ruesch, was born on September 27, 1927 in Nobles County, MN. He grew up in Seward Township and attended Dist. 98 Country School. He served with the US Army during the Korean War from January 1951 until October 1952. Orville was united in marriage to Valeda Gunderman on April 24, 1953 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Fulda, MN. After their marriage they lived and farmed on the Ruesch family farm where he had lived his entire life. In 1986 they celebrated their homestead as being honored as a century farm. They retired from farming in 1993, but remained on the farm. In 2008 they moved into Fulda to let their oldest son move on to the family farm. Orville entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in May of 2013 and passed away there on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the age of 85. He was a member of Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN. He enjoyed fishing (any time of the year), tending to his vegetable garden, wood working in his shop, watching baseball and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Valeda Ruesch of Fulda, MN, 7 children, Angela (Fred) Pane of Omaha, NE, Lorna (Mark) Bennett of Colorado Springs, CO, Alan (Val) Ruesch of Fulda, MN, Myron (Bobbi) Ruesch of Marshall, MN, Brenda (Verlis) Schilling of Adrian, MN, Diane (Dave) Spomer of Savage, MN and Lorin Ruesch of Prior Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer and Christine Pane, Collin, Merrill (Tracy), Marissa, Laurel and Phillip Bennett, Tyler and Trevor Ruesch, Abbigail and Emmili Ruesch, Derek Schilling and Amanda and Paul Spomer and great-grandchild, Greyson Budd. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Verna Ruesch and June Jones.
Funeral services will be at the Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Fulda, MN at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Interment at Pfingsten Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery rural Fulda, MN. Military honors provided by the Fulda American Legion Post318 and VFW Post 9017.
