U.S. Highway 212 is closed in both directions in Eden Prairie until at least noon today following a police chase and subsequent police-involved shooting that left two dead.

Highway 212 is specifically closed between Minnesota Highway 5 in Eden Prairie and Minnesota 101 in Chanhassen, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Multiple police vehicles are visible on MnDOT traffic cameras surrounding another vehicle on U.S. 212 near the Eden Prairie border, between Minnesota Highway 101 and Dell Road about 8 a.m., according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Ambulances arrived at the scene shortly after 8 a.m. It is not known who the victims are.

The vehicle was fleeing police for at least 10 minutes prior to being stopped, at points with its hood popped and lying against the windshield, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

West central Minnesotans traveling east on Highway 212 this morning are encouraged to seek out other routes.

MnDOT's web site is reporting this Highway 212 sector will be closed until at least noon.

Law enforcement is expected to discuss more details during a 12:30 p.m. press conference at Eden Prairie City hall, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
