Policeman arrested for child porn

A Hastings Police Department officer was arrested Tuesday at his home in New Richmond, Wis., on possession of child pornography.

Anthony Miller was arrested on an "allegation and investigation of possession of child pornography" according to a press release issued by the Hastings Police Department.

Miller was booked into St. Croix County jail but was released Wednesday on $30,000 bond. As of Thursday morning, he had yet to be charged. Miller is scheduled for an initial court appearance in St. Croix County court at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18.

Hastings Police Chief Mike McMenomy said the department has been contacted by the Dakota County Sheriff's office about obtaining Miller's work computers as part of the investigation.

The arresting agency was the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Unit of the Wisconsin Department of Justice. The New Richmond Police Department assisted in the arrest.

Miller has been placed on paid administrative leave from the Hastings Police Department. He has been an officer in Hastings since 1997.
