Prairie Star, Disciple awards offered
WORTHINGTON -- The Southwest Minnesota Arts & Humanities Council is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Prairie Star Award and 2012 Prairie Disciple Award.
The $5,000 Prairie Star Award recognizes an individual artist whose body of work has made a significant contribution to the arts over an extended period of time and who has best exemplified the highest quality of work in the SMAHC region.
The $500 Prairie Disciple Award provides awareness and recognition of one individual whose activities and involvement have substantially contributed to the arts. In 2012, this award will be given to recognize an arts teacher/educator only.
The accomplishments of artists and arts advocates working in the region are often not widely known or appreciated. In recognizing these individuals publicly, the awards will raise the profile of the arts in their communities and throughout the SMAHC Region. These awards can be received only once in a lifetime and the nomination must be from someone other than the nominee.
Nomination forms are available at www.smahc.org.
The nomination deadline is April 1. Awards will be presented in October.
