PREP BASEBALL: Huskies stay in the hunt, Falcons bow out

FAIRMONT -- After losing 12-1 to New Ulm, the Jackson County Central Huskies came back to defeat Blue Earth 7-2 to advance in the Section 3AA baseball playoffs.

Levi Buresch had an RBI double to drive in Nolan Luhmann for the Huskyies' only run of the game against New Ulm.

Bryce Christopher suffered the loss for JCC.

Against BE, the Huskies fell behind 1-0 early, but scored once in the second and three times in the third inning en route to a five-run victory.

Tyler Rettig earned the victory, allowing two earned runs while walking five and striking out six in four and two-thirds innings. Christopher came in and threw the final two and one-third innings for JCC.

Trevon Bargfrede had a pair of hits, including a triple to lead JCC's offensive attack. He also drove in three runs. Josh Wacker had a pair of hits, while Tyler Schwarting had an RBI double in the third inning.

JCC will advance to face Pipestone Area at 7 p.m. today in Windom.

MARSHALL -- With a pair of losses, the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons were eliminated from the Section 3AA baseball playoffs Saturday.

Against the Tigers, Brian Benedict suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs in four innings.

Mason Comnick had a double, while Shane Schoborg had a base hit in the game.

Against Redwood Valley, Daniel Maras had an RBI single to lead RRC/W-WG (2-20).

Comnick had a hit, as did Nate Bierman.

Schoborg suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs while scattering nine hits in a complete-game effort.
