SLAYTON -- Murray County Central senior Sam Erickson fired a complete-game gem Tuesday, shutting out Edgerton/Southwestern Christian 3-0 and giving the Flying Dutchmen their first loss of the season in Red Rock Conference baseball action.

Erickson struck out 11 batters, while only walking one and allowing just one hit.

Seth Bass and Paul Mesner were each 2-for-3 at the plate to the Rebels (3-3, 3-2), while Darien Schreiber and Kyle Vos both drove in runs.

Blake Jouwstra had the only hit for the Dutchmen, dropping in a single in the fourth inning.

Luke Nibbelink pitched 3 and 1/3 innings for E/SWC, allowing a pair of earned runs and six hits, while striking out two and walking three.

Dominic Nibbelink walked one and struck out one in the final 2 and 2/3 innings, while not giving up a hit or a run.

The Dutchmen (4-4, 4-1) host Adrian Thursday.

ADRIAN -- Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Adrian split a Red Rock Conference doubleheader, with the Falcons winning the opener and the Dragons rallying from a 5-0 deficit to win Game 2.

Brady Bierl pitched all seven innings for RRC/W-WG in the first game, striking out nine batters.

Henry Rogotzke belted a grand slam home run for the Falcons in the top of the sixth inning.

Austin Price was 2-for-4 at the plate for RRC/W-WG, while both Thomas Blomgren and Bierl hit doubles.

Nick Reyne was 2-for-3 for Adrian with an RBI.

Jordan Bertrand gave up just two runs in five innings on the mound for the Dragons, while both Nate Loosbrock and Brady Lonneman also pitched for Adrian.

In the second game, Trey Henning (three RBI) and Jordan Dingmann (two RBI) were both 2-for-4 to lead the Dragons, while Bertrand ripped a key two-run double in Adrian's five-run sixth inning.

Price was 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Falcons; while Blomgren was 2-for-5 and both Brian Hag berg and Dillon Benson smacked doubles.

Ian Ruppert and Logan Rogers (five strikeouts) did the pitching for the Dragons, while Bierl, Tyler Schoborg, Rogotzke and Mitch Jarmer pitched for the Falcons.

RRC/W-WG (4-4, 4-2) hosts Mountain Lake Area in a double header Thursday and Adrian travels to Edgerton for a single game against E/SWC the same day.

MLA 11-8, SWU 3-6

HERON LAKE -- Mountain Lake Area swept Southwestern United in a Red Rock Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Laker Field.

MLA's Austin Watkins pitched a complete game in the opener, striking out eight batters and allowing three runs on five hits and six walks.

Levi Jahnke was 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs for the Wolverines, while Josh Grev went 2-for-2. Josiah Stoesz and Levi Kass each belted a two-run double, while Andrew Hirsch ripped an RBI double for MLA.

Aaron Fest, Kraig Stenzel and Andrew Kramer each pitched for SWU. Fest started and went 3 2/3 innings, striking out five batters and allowing nine runs on eight hits and six walks.

Erik Jass (double) and Jacob Getzel (single) each had a run-scoring base hit for the Wildcats, while Stenzel, Blake Glaser and Trey Cranston also had base hits for SWU.

Levi Kass, Tyler Duerksen, Nathan Adrian and Hirsch pitched for MLA in the second game. Jahnke and Andrew Hempeck each had two hits and an RBI for the Wolverines.

Jacob Post and Isaac Fest each pitched two innings for SWU, combining to strike out four batters and issue four walks.

SWU's Andrew Kramer smashed an RBI triple, while Mark Ferguson went 2-for-3. Cranston (two RBIs), Luke Veith and Justin Jass also had a hit apiece for the Wildcats.

SWU (1-9, 0-8) hosts Murray County Central Thursday, while MLA (4-6, 4-2) plays at Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove the same day.
