SLAYTON -- Cole Bly hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the third to power the Murray County Central Rebels past the Southwestern United Wildcats Monday in a baseball game.

The Rebels scored all five of their runs in the first inning and were able to hold the Wildcats off the scoreboard completely to collect the shutout win.

Sam Erickson was the winning pitcher for MCC and picked up 10 strikeouts. He walked one. Nick Peterson was 3-for-3 on the day, while Seth Bass had a double for the Rebels.

Dakota Schmid pitched all seven innings for SWU, collecting seven strikeouts and a walk.

Murray County Central travels to Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove today, while Southwestern United takes on Edgerton/Southwest Christian today.

In a game played Saturday, Tyler Schoborg struck out 14 batters in seven innings of work to lead the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons to a 9-6 victory over the Southwestern United Wildcats.

Aaron Fest, Jacob Post and Trey Cranston all took turns on the mound for the Wildcats, while Post struck out five batters in five innings of work.
