Prep basketball: Central Lyon sweeps Hills-Beaver Creek

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — Sarah Halse scored 17 points to lead Central Lyon past Hills-Beaver Creek, 55-43, in a girls basketball game Monday night in Rock Rapids. 

The score was tied 21-21 at halftime before Central Lyon outscored the Patriots 34-22 in the second half.

Taylor Wingert and Tori Bork scored 11 and 10 points respectively for H-BC.

Mattie Knobloch had five steals for Central Lyon, now 6-10 on the season.

The Patriots, now 3-10, host Edgerton tonight.

Boys basketball

Central Lyon 64, Hills-Beaver Creek 53

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — Central Lyon’s boys basketball team overcame a lethargic start to edge Hills-Beaver Creek on Monday night.

The Lions earned a 64-53 win on their home floor against the visiting Patriots, moving their record to 9-6 on the season. H-BC drops to 6-9.

Nic Lutmer led Central Lyon with 18 points and Kalen Eckenrod offered 11. Hills-Beaver Creek’s Dylan Gehrke led all scorers with 23 points. Carey Taubert posted 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots.

Central Lyon trailed 49-47 with five minutes left in the game when Drew Roskam hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Lions, turning the tides for the win.

H-BC faces a trip to Fulda tonight.
