Prep basketball: Morrow hits 1,000th, H-LP splits with H-M-S
LAKE PARK, Iowa — Harris-Lake Park senior Noreen Morrow became the first girl in the five-on-five girls basketball era to reach 1,000 career points at her school.
Morrow’s 21 points and 13 rebounds were one reason the Wolves were able to down Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Monday, 56-42, in a girls basketball game in Lake Park.
Miranda Brueggeman, a senior guard, posted 14 points on the night for the Wolves (11-4), who have now won seven games in a row. H-LP hosts West Bend-Mallard tonight.
Jaylin Rieck put up a dozen points for H-M-S.

ST. JAMES - Mikayla Falk was one of two players scoring in double figures as Mountain Lake Area eeked past St. James Area on the road, 62-60.
Falk scored 22 points for the Wolverines and Rachel Dukes chipped in 12. Alyssa Brandts exploded for 26 points for the Saints.

LAKE PARK, Iowa — Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn hit key shots through a 10-4 run in the third quarter, edging Harris-Lake Park in a boys basketball tussle, 63-53.
Brady Van Iperen went 10-for-10 from the free throw line and scored 18 for the Wolves. Jordan Kyle reined in 12 rebounds and posted 16 points. Cole Bosma added 13 points.
The Hawks harassed H-LP with their junior post Blake Simons, who scored 18 points in the contest. Casey Dorhart added 16 and Brian Perez 13.
H-LP, now 6-7, hosts West Bend-Mallard tonight.
