PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: T-M-B falls to Washburn in Marshall Tournament
MARSHALL -- Mason Von Essen and Parker Lanoue both scored in double-digits for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers in a 61-46 loss to Washburn at the Marshall Holiday Tournament Wednesday.
The Panthers trailed by 12 at the end of the first half and were not able to mount a comeback in the second, scoring 21 points compared to 24 by Washburn.
Washburn shot 58 percent from the floor in the game, while T-M-B was at 41 percent. The Panthers were also outrebounded 30-20, while turning the ball over seven times and taking just three free-throw shots in the game.
Lanoue led T-M-B with 14 points in the game along with six rebounds. Van Essen scored 11 points, while Jordan Lanoue had five assists and six rebounds. Brian Fultz was next highest in scoring with eight points.
Leading Washburn in scoring was Evan Sheperd, who had 21 points and was the only player for Washburn in double-digits. Sheperd was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc and had three rebounds.
Jeff Jones put up nine points and eight rebounds, while Kevin Gleason had seven points.
T-M-B (2-3) continues to play in the Marshall Holiday tournament today in Marshall.
