PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: JCC beats PA in Southwest Conf. bout
JACKSON -- Zach Copley made two catchs for 71 yards, one for a 65-yard touchdown, in a Southwest Conference win for the Jackson County Central Huskies over the Pipestone Area Arrows.
JCC scored all their points in the first half, six in the first and 16 in the second to take a 22-0 lead in to halftime. Tanner Menke accounted for two of the Huskies touchdowns, one rushing and the long pass to Copley.
Menke was 11 for 16 in the air for 208 yards. Kyle Luhmann had five catches for the Huskies for 92 yards and Darick Vancura carried the ball 24 times for 156 yards including 22-yard scamper into the endzone.
PA scored their only points in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Derby to Sawyer Pals.
JCC out gained PA 362 yards to 146 in the game.
The Huskies travel to Windom for their last game of the season Wednesday and the Arrows head to Madison, S.D. Thursday.

Luverne 27, LV 21
LENNOX, S.D. -- The Luverne Cardinals held of Lennox Valley's comeback attempt in the fourth quarter of a football game Friday to stay perfect on the year.
Andrew Verhey led the team in rushing with 79 yards on 13 attempts to go along with one touchdown, while Skyler Wenninger added 71 yards and a touchdown. Brett Heronimus picked up the Cardinals last rushing touchdown to go along with 46 yards of his own.
Wenninger was four for nine in the air with a TD and a INT. His TD pass was caught by Josh Slieter on a 21-yard pass play.
Kendall Meyer, Matt Arends and Heronimus all had INTs for the Cardinals on defense.
The Cardinals (7-0) host Marshall in a battle of undefeated teams Wednesday.

RENVILLE -- Dalton Bass led the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots to victory over Renville County West with 117 yards rushing and four TDs Friday.
H-BC scored 38 points in the first quarter, but cooled off in the second, scoring only six more. RCW got on the board in the second with six points of their own to make it 44-6 at half.
The Patriots picked up six more points in the third, and RCW matched that score in the fourth, but it was too little too late for RCW.
Tate Borkhad an eight-yard TD run for the Patriots, while Caleb Bish had eight carries for 42 yards. Dylan Gehrke was five for eight for 115 yards on the night.
Jess Sandbulte had two catches for 41 yards, Braden Ellingson had two for 50 yards and Carey Taubert added 24 on one catch. Ellingson also had a 97-yard kickoff return TD.
Defensively, the Patriots intercepted five passes, two by Gehrke along with once each by Sandbulte, Zach Wagenaar and Cooper Vaughn. Sandbulte returned his INT 43 yards for a TD.
H-BC (7-0) looks for a perfect season with a win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove Wednesday at home to end the season.

SHELDON, Iowa -- Chris Balster powered the Sheldon Orabs to a win over MOC-Floyd Valley with 125 yards passing and 145 yards rushing, including two TD rushes, Friday.
The Orabs opened up the first quarter with 14 points, and then added another six in the second to extend their lead to 20 at halftime. Sheldon scored another eight points in the third and then six more in the fourth to end the game up 34-0.
Hunter McDonald carried the ball 13 times for 144 yards and two TDs to go along with a pass touchdown to Nathan Oostra (4 catches, 80 yards). The Orabs had 497 yards of offense in the game.
Balster also led the Orab defense with three tackles and two INTs, while Matt Dykstra had three tackles and a sack. Dalton McQueen also had four tackles and a sack.
Sheldon (5-1) took second place in its district with the win and will host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Friday.

KINGSLEY -- Kade Heikins had five total touchdowns, four rushing and one receiving, in the Harris-Lake Park Wolves shutout of Kingsley Pearson Friday.
The Wolves scored 41 points in the first half, but were only able to put up another seven points in the second.
Heikins had 77 yards on the ground on nine carries and two catches for 82 yards on the night for H-LP. Tanner Hizeley and El Hinen both picked up rushing touchdowns for the Wolves.
On defense, Colin Brons had 11 tackles and a sack along with a fumble recovery and four tackles for loss. Hizeley led the team in tackles with 16 and also had a fumble recovery and four tackles for loss. Hinen added 14 more tackles and two tackles for loss and Brady van Iperen had seven tackles and an INT.
H-LP (6-2) hosts Remsen St. Mary's Friday.

SIOUX CENTER -- Josh Hunt picked up 175 yards rushing on 18 carries, including two touchdown runs in the Central Lyon/George-Little Rock Lions' victory over Sioux Center Friday.
The Lions scored 14 points in the first, seven in the second, six in the third and seven in the fourth to take the win, while only allowing seven points by Sioux Center in the third quarter.
Ben Starr came up big on defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles, plus a sack and a knockdown for the Lions.
CL/G-LR (6-2) hosts Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Friday, and with a win, the Lions wil be tied for second place in the district.

Medford 10, Adrian 7
MEDFOR -- Jake Tiede led the Adrian Dragons with 110 rushing yards and the team's only touchdown of the game in a loss to Medford Friday.
The Dragons touchdown came in the second quarter on a four-yard run for Tiede (PAT good) to make it 7-0 going into half time.
Medford scored on a field goal in the third to cut Adrian's lead to four. Then in the fourth quarter, a costly fumble near the Dragon's 20-yard-line led to Medford's only touchdown on a short field.
While driving for the game winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Adrian fumbled at the Medford four-yard-line to bring the game to an end.
The Dragons' defense was led by Jesse Slater with 10 tackles.
Adrian (5-2) hosts Russel-Tyler-Ruthton Wednesday with the winner taking the Little Sioux Conference regular season title.
