Prep Football Roundup: Minneota edges Adrian in Little Sioux game
MINNEOTA -- The Adrian Dragons found themselves in a hole after three quarters Friday night in a key Little Sioux Conference football game.
With a 65-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sam Derynck to Tony Noyes to start the second half, Minneota appeared to be in the driver's seat.
However, the Dragons (3-2) battled back with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull within five points.
Unfortunately for Adrian, that would be as close as it would get in a 19-14 Minneota victory.
Brett Nowotny (10-for-23 passing, 125 yards) found the end zone twice for Adrian in the final quarter.
He scored on a 2-yard run with just more than seven minutes remaining, and then found pay dirt from 1-yard out later in the quarter.
For Adrian, which had 299 total yards, Jesse Brake had 60 yards on 19 carries, while Adam Diekmann had 101 yards receiving on seven receptions.
Defensively, Tanner Loosbrock had 12 tackles and recovered a fumble, while Brake had 11 tackles. Diekmann added nine stops, while Brandon Aggen had a fumble recovery for an Adrian defense that allowed 300 total yards.
Adrian will host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in the Dragons' homecoming game Friday.
