PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Ackerman sinks last-second shot for win
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- With the score tied at 65 apiece, Central Lyon's Lexi Ackerman sank a 8-foot jumper with 2.5 seconds left in the game to give the Lions a 67-65 win over Sioux Center Tuesday.
The Lions trailed by four heading into halftime, but came out hot in the third quarter, outscoring Sioux Center 17-7 to take the lead.
Sarah Halse led Central Lyon with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 11-for-11 from the free-throw line. Ackerman put up 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals to go along with 12 points from Kori Schulte.
Sioux Center's leading scorer was Amber Bakker, who racked up 20 points in the game.
The Lions (12-2, 10-2) play at West Lyon Friday.

GEORGE, Iowa -- Keeley Kruse led all scorers with 16 points, including a pair of free throws with less than a minute left to seal the win for the George-Little Rock Mustangs over the Sheldon Orabs Tuesday.
The Mustangs made a 16-4 run right out of the locker room on their way to a 12-point lead at halftime. However, the Orabs made a big comeback in the second half, taking a one-point lead with less than 2 minutes left.
George-Little Rock's Danielle Eben was able to convert on a key putback to give the Mustangs back the lead and Kruse made her free throws to make it a three-point lead. The Orabs made a rush down the court with 7 seconds left in an attempt to tie the game, but the Mustangs were able to come up with the stop for the win.
Eben had a double-double for the Mustangs with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Jessica Sandbulte had 13 points and three assists.
The Orabs were led by Emily Johnson's 15 points to go along with 12 points by Krista Bousema.
George-Little Rock (9-6, 6-6) travels to Rock Valley Friday, while Sheldon (5-9) hosts Okoboji Friday.

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Bridget Doeden picked up a double-double for the Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Rock Valley Tuesday.
The Generals trailed by 10 at halftime and were unable to match Rock Valley's intensity throughout the game in the loss.
Kayla Ackerman and Michaela Wolter both had three assists for the Generals, with Wolter adding three steals as well.
Rock Valley was led by Karen Sanchez with 14 points and Kensy Vande Hoef had 12 points.
Sibley-Ocheyedan (6-7, 5-7) hosts MOC-Floyd Valley Friday.

TRACY -- Westbrook-Walnut Grove's Dayna Comnick left the game for about 10 minutes in the second half with an eye injury, which opened the door for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton to capitalize on the junior forward's absence in come-from-behind non-league win for the Panthers over the Chargers.
Comnick finished with 14 points and three blocks, while Paige Erickson led the Chargers with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds to go with three blocks and four assists. Kelsi Wahl added eight points for W-WG (5-8), which hosts Red Rock Central Thursday.
Jenna Stoneberg led a trio of Panthers in double figures with 11 points. Sammie Gervais and Kasey Hoek each added 10 points.
T-M-B (6-7) travels to Dawson-Boyd Thursday for a Camden Conference meeting.

REDWOOD FALLS -- Steph Jensen led all scorers with 21 points to lead the Redwood Valley Cardinals past the Jackson County Central Huskies in a Southwest Conference matchup.
Kaylee Burmeister filled the Huskies' stat book with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Other JCC contributions included Rachel Johnson's nine points, Julia Schumann's six rebounds, four steals and four assists and Sarah Brandt's 11 rebounds and two steals.
Jackson County Central (8-10, 2-5) hosts Luverne Thursday.
