PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Arrows hold on in OT to take down Panthers

TRACY --The Pipestone Area Arrows let a 12-point halftime lead slip away, allowing the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers to tie Friday night's non-conference girls basketball game at the end of regulation.


However, the Arrows did enough in the extra frame to edge the Panthers, 66-64.

Kelly Nettik scored 17 points to the Arrows, while Amanda Haupert (nine rebounds, four assists) knocked down five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points and Bianca Claussen chipped in with 14 points.

Cassie Hook's game-high 25-point output including four 3-pointers led the Panthers' attack. Hook also totaled four assists and three steals, while Jenna Stoneberg collected 14 points and five rebounds and Sara Stoneberg grabbed six boards.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday as Pipestone Area (1-1) hosts Luverne in the Southwest Conference opener, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (0-1) hosts Windom in a non-conference contest.

Central Lyon 49, Sioux Center 44 (OT)

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa --Central Lyon had a few looks at the basket before the end of regulation, but it took one frame of overtime for the Lions to knock off Sioux Center in a Siouxland Conference girls basketball game on Friday.

Lexi Ackerman led Central Lyon, which trailed by seven at halftime, with 26 points, five rebounds, six steals and three assists, while Kelsey Ackerman grabbed nine rebounds.

Sioux Center, which only scored 12 points after halftime, received 16 points from Jill VanderPlaats.

Central Lyon (2-1, 2-1) hosts Ellsworth on Monday.

Sibley-Ocheyedan 42, Rock Valley 34

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa --Kayla Ackerman's all-around night of 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals helped the Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals beat Rock Valley in the Siouxland Conference on Friday.

Bridget Doeden also scored 14 points, while Doeden and Michaela Wolter each collected three steals for the Generals.

Sibley-Ocheyedan (3-1, 2-1) travels to Orange City to play a conference game with MOC-Floyd Valley on Tuesday.

SHELDON, Iowa --Krista Bousema scored 22 points, while Janessa Holles and Abbie Provost added 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Sheldon Orabs beat the George-Little Rock Mustangs in a Siouxland Conference girls basketball game on Friday.

Keeley Kruse led the Mustangs with 13 points and was followed by Jessica Sandbulte's 11 points and Teyha Graham's 10 points.

Sheldon (2-1, 2-1) travels to Paulina, Iowa, today to take on South O'Brien.

George-Little Rock (2-1, 2-1) hosts Rock Valley on Tuesday.

SPRINGFIELD --Three Eagles scored in double figures as Windom improved to 2-0 with a non-conference girls basketball win over the Springfield Tigers on Friday.

Rachel Sorensen led Windom's effort with 13 points and was followed by Holly Larson's 11 points and Gina Hauge's 10 points.

Kelsey Hanefeld added six points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, while Joeli Arnoldi led Springfield (1-1) with a game-high 14 points including four 3-pointers.

Windom travels to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Tuesday.

SLAYTON --Leslie Willart scored 21 points to lead the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights past the Murray County Central Rebels in Friday's non-conference girls basketball game.

Jenna Ness led the Rebels with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals, while Taylor Schreier (three steals) and Jade Giese each scored 10 points. Giese also totaled five rebounds, four steals and three assists and Morgan Behrends grabbed five boards.

Murray County Central (0-2) opens its Red Rock Conference season on Tuesday, hosting the Fulda Raiders.

Wabasso 89, W-WG 50

WESTBROOK -- Elizabeth Woelber and Paige Erickson both put up 11 points for the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers in a 89-50 loss to the Wabasso Rabbits on Friday.

The Chargers trailed Wabasso 52-27 at halftime and were unable to make a comeback in the second to avoid the loss.

Woelber also had two steals and three assists, while Erickson picked up had six rebounds, two blocks and three steals for the Chargers. Dayna Comnick added eight points and a block.

W-WG (0-2) plays at Jeffers against the Red Rock Central Falcons Tuesday to open its Red Rock Conference schedule.
