PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Mustangs bow out of girls' state tourney
DES MOINES, Iowa -- With only AGWSR standing in the way of George-Little Rock's trip to the Iowa Class 1A state championship game, the Mustangs couldn't hold on in a 47-40 loss.
AGWSR (a combination of Ackley, Geneva, Wellsburg and Steamboat Rock) will make its first appearance in the state title game, while the Mustangs end their season 23-4.
GL-R trailed 34-24 in the beginning of the fourth quarter, but a trio of 3-pointers and a layup by Patrice Peters gave the Mustangs a 37-36 lead.
However, AGWSR went on an 11-3 run to close the game in the seven-point victory.
Peters led the Mustangs with 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Kelli Starr scored seven points, while Shelby Nagel had a team-high 11 rebounds.

AGWSR was led by Jessica McDowell's 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Macy Ubben scored 10 for the Cougars, who went 16 of 22 from the line.
