PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Menning's basket with five seconds left lifts Edgerton over Southwest Christian

EDGERTON -- With five seconds left Jessica Menning scored on a putback to give Edgerton the 56-55 Red Rock Conference victory over Southwest Christian Tuesday.

Lindsey Drooger had 17 points 10 rebounds and three blocks, Menning had 11 points, three assists and three steals and Tanner Gunnink had 10 points and 14 rebounds to lead Edgerton (10-5, 7-4).

Amber Pater had 19 points and eight rebounds and Megan DeRuyter had 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists to lead SWC (12-2, 8-2).

Edgerton will host H-BC Friday and SWC will host Fulda Friday.

ADRIAN -- Adrian's girls' basketball team cruised by Hills-Beaver Creek Monday night in the Red Rock Conference matchup. Elissa Thier had 16 points, Sydne Springman had 12 points, Austyn Thier had 10 points and five rebounds and the Dragons (12-4, 7-3) shot 55 percent en route to the win.

H-BC (1-14, 1-9) was led by Katlyn Sandbulte (seven points), Natalie Leuthold (seven points) and Haley Van Wyhe (seven points).

H-BC is at Edgerton Friday and Adrian is at Ellsworth Friday.

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Alexis Conway scored 14 points, Lauren McDonald had 13 points and Trisha De Jong had 11 points to lead MOC-Floyd Valley (17-0) over Sibley-Ocheyedan in girls' basketball action Tuesday.

Alyssa Hibbing had 12 points to lead S-O (5-9).

S-O will host Sioux Center Friday.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- Central Lyon (14-2) cruised to victory in girls' basketball action Tuesday behind 20 points, 10 steals and nine assists from Lexi Ackerman, 15 points from Kelsey Ackerman and 12 points and eight rebounds from Sarah Halse.

Nelly Viereck had 13 points and Marissa Childress had 10 points to lead West Lyon (3-13).

CL will be at Okoboji and WL will play at Boyden-Hull Friday.

GEORGE, Iowa -- Sarah Kruse had 18 points and Jessica Sandbulte had 10 points to lead George-Little Rock in girls' basketball action Tuesday.

Josie Godfresen had 10 points and Monserrat Figueroa had nine points to lead Rock Valley.

G-LR will play Friday at MOC.

MARSHALL -- Whitney Burmeister had 18 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and four blocks, Kaylee Burmeister had nine points and four assists, while Marita Rasche and Sydney Eddy each had eight points and four rebound, but it was not enough for Jackson County Central's girls' basketball team Tuesday in the Southwest Conference battle.

Kenzie Beekman had 14 points and Kelsey Saugstad had 13 points to lead Marshall (13-5, 8-0).

JCC (11-8, 5-4) will play at Windom Tuesday.

WESTBROOK -- Paige Erickson had 20 points and Liz Woelber had 16 points, 11 rebounds and three assists to lead Westbrook-Walnut Grove (7-8, 5-5) in the Red Rock Conference girls' basketball matchup Tuesday.

Courtney Place had 19 points and six rebounds and Connor DeWall had nine points and nine rebounds.

W-WG will host Red Rock Central Friday.

SLAYTON -- Courtney Hulstein had 17 points and 11 assists, Melissa Gehl had 17 points and Tiffany Gehl had 18 points and six steals to lead Fulda's girls' basketball team Tuesday.

Murray County Central (9-6, 7-3) was led by Jenna Ness (16 points) and Haley Bose (10 points).

Fulda will travel to Southwest Christian and MCC will travel to Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Friday.

JEFFERS -- Klarissa Larsen had 18 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and three assists to lead Red Rock Central in their win over Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Tuesday night.

Cassie Erickson added 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Melanie Kedl had 10 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for the Falcons (3-13, 2-9).

ML/B-O's Brianna Wenner had 10 points, while Jessica Sawatzky had nine points for the Wolverines (2-14, 1-9).

Both teams are in action again on Friday, with RRC taking on Westbrook-Walnut Grove and ML/B-O taking on Murray County Central.
