WORTHINGTON -- Carly Wolf ripped the nets for 16 points Saturday afternoon, leading the third-seeded Adrian Dragons to a 58-28 victory over the sixth-seeded Murray County Central Rebels in the fourth of four Section 3A South tournament quarterfinal girls' basketball games during "Super Saturday" at Worthington High School.

Adrian (19-6) advances to the sub-section semifinals Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) when it will play second-seeded Southwest Christian in Worthington. MCC ends its season with a record of 9-12.

"We shot the ball well, especially in the first half," Adrian head coach Randy Strand said after the game. "Our open shots were dropping, and we applied some full-court defensive pressure to get the tempo in our favor. It was a very nice win for us."

Adrian, which forced MCC to turn the ball over 27 times, didn't waste any time taking control -- jumping out to a 19-4 lead with about 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

The Dragons scored in a variety of ways and had good balance overall, with Elizabeth Their (10 points), Courtney Vaske (nine points, seven rebounds), Jordin Kopplow (eight points, 11 rebounds, six assists and six steals) and Rachel Kontz (seven points, five steals and four assists) combining to net 34 points in addition to Wolf's game-high 16.

Elissa Thier (four assists, four steals) and Brooke Wenzel each hit a 3-pointer -- two of the eight that Adrian knocked down -- and Katie Wieneke rounded out the Dragons' scoring with a pair of free throws late in the game.

Adrian extended the lead to 36-15 by halftime and claimed its largest lead (56-20) with less than six minutes showing on the second-half clock.

MCC's Jenna Ness scored a team-high nine points and pulled down six rebounds, helping the Rebels outscore the Dragons 8-2 in the closing minutes with a 3-pointer and a layup off a steal.

Morgan Behrends (five), Jade Giese (four), McKenzie Schmitz (three), Taylor Schreier (three), Sierra Van Iperen (two) and Haley Bose (two) also scored points for MCC.
