MARSHALL -- Worthington's boys' hockey team managed just 14 shots on goal Tuesday night and was shut out for the first time this season.

Mitch Campion stopped every shot on goal, and Ryne Hanson had a hat-trick and two assists to lead Marshall to a 7-0 victory.

Dereck Deutz had two goals, and Danny Hansen had two goals and two assists for the Tigers, who swept the regular-season series with the Trojans.

Kyle Hain made 27 saves for Worthington, which trailed 2-0 after the first period.

Marshall had three power-play goals in the game.

Luverne 8, Fairmont 0

FAIRMONT -- Zach Olson had two goals and an assist, and Tanner Skattum had 16 saves Tuesday night to help Luverne's boys' hockey team earn its first shutout of the season.

"It definitely feels good to get that first shutout," Luverne co-head coach Jon Nyre said. "We played a pretty good defensive game."

Phil Paquette scored the eventual winner just 3:43 into the game on assists from Connor Fitzer and Olson. The senior forward added two assists in the game.

Zach Dingman scored on an assist from Justin Krueger less than a minute later to give the Cardinals a two-goal lead entering the first intermission.

Austin Eeaton and Derek Van Santen each had a goal, and Dingman, Nick Meyer and Brad Geske each added assists for Luverne.

Girls Marshall 8, Worthington 0

MARSHALL -- The slide continued Tuesday night for Worthington's girls' hockey team.

The Trojans remained winless on the season after a shutout loss to Marshall.

Taylor Baumhoefner had 37 saves in goal for Worthington, which was held without a shot on goal in the first two periods.

Sophomore forward Rachel Peters charted a hat-trick to lead the Tigers, who led 2-0 after the first period.

Worthington will travel to face Fairmont on Thursday.

Luverne 4, Fairmont 1

FAIRMONT -- Katie Dahl had a goal and an assist, and Kelsey Theesfeld made 13 saves Tuesday night to lead the Cardinals.

Dahl broke a scoreless tie just over 12 minutes into the game on assists from Paige Olson and Alyssa Frakes, and Liz Solma scored nearly three minutes later on assists from Lauren Christensen and Amanda Niessink.

Junior Mikki Fitzer scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway with just 30 seconds remaining in the first period to give Luverne a three-goal lead at the first intermission.

Fairmont scored a short-handed goal in the second period, but Olson answered on an assist from Dahl fewer than two minutes later.
