EDGERTON — Rapping 23 hits over five innings and scoring 13 runs in the top of the fourth Monday, the Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Flying Dutchmen rolled to a convincing victory in Game 1 of a Red Rock Conference high school girls’ softball doubleheader against Red Rock Central.

The undefeated Dutchmen (8-0, 6-0) made it a clean sweep in Game 2 behind the two-hit, 11-strikeout pitching efforts of Tianna Top and Breanna Nelson.

Game scores were 22-1 and 10-0.

Nelson (double, triple) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in the first game, as was her younger sister Jenny, who did the catching for the Dutchmen. Tanner Gunnink (3-for-4, two RBIs), Kameron Kroh (2-for-2, double, two RBIs) and the trio of Top, Marisa Fey and Sydney Esselink (each 2-for-2) also came through with multiple-hit games for E/SWC.

Laura Kastner and Mikaela Smith had the only two hits for RRC, which scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kastner’s sacrifice fly drove in Rachel Kedl. Kastner and Kedl each had hits for the Falcons in the second game.

Top struck out eight batters in three innings in the second game and was backed up by a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by Savannah Tinklenberg, whose two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth ended the contest. Gunnink (2-for-3) and Top (2-for-4) also had multiple-hit games for the Dutchmen.
