Prep Softball: JCC softball team loses two to Big Lake
JACKSON -- The Jackson County Central Huskies dropped a pair of games 8-4 and 13-4 to Big Lake during a softball doubleheader Friday.
In Game 1, the Huskies took a lead early, but allowed Big Lake to score five runs over the last three innings to steal the win from JCC.
Brooke Klontz was credited with the loss for JCC after pitching a complete game while allowing eight runs on 12 hits. Adriane Rentschler, Jenna Stade and Moira Carlson each had two hits for the Huskies in Game 1.
Game 2 saw Big Lake take a 5-0 lead after two innings, which was too much of a deficit for Jackson County Central to overcome. The Huskies put together two runs in the sixth, but it wasn't enough as Big Lake scored five runs in the fourth and three in the sixth to claim the win.
Carlson took the loss for the Huskies after pitching six innings and giving up 13 runs on 12 hits. Marita Rasche led JCC at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, while Blaney Erickson and Carlson both added RBIs as well.
The Huskies host a tournament Saturday in Jackson with Big Lake, Blue Earth, Brandon Valley, Mankato Loyola, Red Rock Central, Saint Peter and St. James all participating.
