Prep tennis: Luverne tennis team rolls on

LUVERNE — The Luverne boys tennis team left no doubt Thursday, beating both Yellow Medicine East and Pipestone Area by identical 7-0 scores in a triangular meet.

At No. 1 singles, Jonny Vajgrt beat YME’s Brandon Repsher 6-0, 6-0 and Pipestone Area’s Trase Lueck 6-2, 6-3. Andrew Jelken won 6-0, 6-0 over YME’s Shane Nokleby and 6-1, 6-2 over Pipestone Area’s Nate Baatz at No. 2 singles.

Erik Wohnoutka beat James DeJager of YME 6-0, 6-0, and Joe Morgan of Pipestone Area 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

At fourth singles, Luverne’s Jacob Jarchow beat YME’s Cody Speh 6-0, 6-0, and won the Pipestone Area match by forfeit.

At No. 1 doubles, Luverne’s Blake Ziegler and Cory Stroeh won twice, not giving up more than a game an either match. Hunter Robinson and Chris Jelken also won easily at No. 2 doubles and Toby Sengvongxay and Dalton Schoeneman also breezed to two victories at No. 3 doubles.

Luverne, 9-2, will take on Worthington at Worthington today.
