PREP WRESTLING: Bobcats begin with three dual victories

MANKATO -- Wabasso/Red Rock Central began its season with three straight wins during the Mankato West Duals Invitational on Saturday.

The Bobcats defeated Byron (40-15), Mankato West (75-3) and St. James (52-19).

Against Byron, Blake Altermatt (170) and Brady Bierl (195) posted pinfall wins. Derek Christians (132) won with a major decision, while Spencer Jenniges (120), Josh Altermatt (126), T.J. Fulton (138), Tanner Rohlik (152), Mitchell Schroepfer (160) and Jordan Schroepfer (182) all earned decision victories. Alex Schroepfer (285) won by forfeit.

Against Mankato West, Wabasso/Red Rock Central took 13 of 14 bouts. Jenniges (120), Christians (132), Dominic Ourada (145), Blake Altermatt (170), Jordan Schroepfer (182), Brian Hagberg (220) and Alex Schroepfer (in 11 seconds at 285) all had pinfalls. Mitchell Schroepfer (160) won with a technical fall, while Josh Altermatt (126) scored a major decision. Justin Frank (113), Fulton (138), Rohlik (152) and Bierl (182) each won by forfeit.

Against St. James, the Bobcats recorded seven pins from Mitchell Fulton (106), Christians (132), Rohlik (152), Mitchell Schroepfer (160), Blake Altermatt (170), Jordan Schroepfer (182) and Alex Schroepfer (in 31 seconds at 285). T.J. Fulton (138) generated a major decision, while Jenniges (120) won by injury default.
