Preparing pets for Red River flood
FARGO, N.D. - As the region prepares for a possible flood, the FM Humane Society asks pet owners to prepare their pets for an emergency situation.
Owners should find a safe place for pets ahead of time, such as with family and friends who live elsewhere or by making arrangements at a hotel that accepts pets.
Pets should wear up-to-date identification at all times. Families should include pet supplies, such as food, water, medicines, toys, treats, a leash and pet carrier, with their emergency supply kit.
The FM Humane Society also suggests families not wait until a mandatory evacuation to leave their home, because they may be told to leave their pets behind.
