Rasche leads JCC past Fairmont, 72-70

JACKSON -- Ryan Rasche scored 28 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists in leading the Jackson County Central Huskies (10-14) past the visiting Fairmont Cardinals, 72-70, Tuesday night in a boys' non-conference basketball tilt.

Scott Benson added 22 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Patrick Garvin finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. Nathan Brandt scored six points.

Trevor Holm led the Cardinals (13-8) with 28 points. Jeff Janssen posted 20 points, while Chris Janssen added 10 points.

The Huskies are off until the Section 3AA playoff March 8.

TRACY -- Mike Felt paced the Cardinals (14-9) with a game-high 27 points Tuesday night in a non-conference boys' basketball contest.

Preston Blaine and Sam Knudsen finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Cardinals.

The Panthers (18-6) were led by Isaac Dolan with 18 points and nine rebounds. Anthony Dolan followed with 15 points, while Brandon Kirk added 13 points. Walker Schaar pitched in with 12 points, and Drew Nelson pulled down six rebounds.

The Panthers will host the Camden Conference title game against the Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

SSC 61, H-BC 59

OKABENA -- With a double-double from Ben Scheevel, the Southwest Star Quasars won a tight contest over Hills-Beaver Creek in a Red Rock Conference boys' basketball game Tuesday afternoon.

With neither team opening up more than a six point lead all game, Scheevel scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead SSC (4-11, 9-13). Kirk McBreek scored 16, while William Cranston added 10 points and six rebounds for SSC, who was 12-of-23 from the field in the second half and 26-of-54 in the game.

Andrew Scholten scored 18 points to lead H-BC (7-8, 9-12), while Halden Van Wyhe added 12 points for the Patriots, who were seven-of-14 from beyond the arc in the game.

H-BC will host Edgerton Thursday, while SSC travels to Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin the same evening.
