Pork chop supper raises funds for St. Mary’s KC

WORTHINGTON — St. Mary’s Catholic Church Knights of Columbus will have a grilled pork chop supper from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lodge, 1105 Second Ave., Worthington.


The menu will include grilled and glazed chops, baked potato, corn, cole slaw, applesauce and dinner roll.

Funds raised by the event will go toward KC endeavors, including parish, school and Faith Formation projects and community concerns.

Westminster offers A Nativity Experience

WORTHINGTON — A Nativity Experience will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St.

The event will feature more than 300 Nativity sets. Coffee hot cider and Christmas goodies will be served. There is an admission fee.

Anyone who has a Nativity set they are willing to share for the event should contact Marlis, 376-4756.

Handbell Choir Festival slated for Sunday in Windom

WINDOM — A Handbell Choir Festival, “Ringing Through the Church Year,” will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the American Lutheran Church in Windom.

The concert will feature three area handbell choirs and a handbell duet playing music to celebrate the changing seasons of the church year.

Participating handbell choirs are from First Lutheran Church, Worthington; American Lutheran Church, Windom, and United Methodist Church, Sheldon, Iowa.

The concert is free. Refreshments will follow the concert.

Local churches offer Thanksgiving Eve services

WORTHINGTON — American Lutheran Church, 915 Winifred St., will have a Thanksgiving Eve worship service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The offering will go to the Community Christmas Basket program. Following the service, there will be a pie social, with proceeds going to the youths who will attend the 2015 National Youth Gathering in Detroit, Mich.

Worthington Christian Church, 1501 N. Douglas Ave., will have a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

#507 Youth Rally coming up at Westminster Presbyterian

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Area Youth Ministers Association has scheduled the next #507 Youth Rally for Dec. 3 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St.

Free pizza will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the rally from 7 to 8 p.m. The purpose of the rally is to unite students and encourage them in their walk of faith.
