Sale is benefit for Relay for Life team

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Team Trinity, the Trinity Lutheran Relay for Life team, will have a gift and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 704 Poplar St.


The sale will feature new and homemade gifts and the opportunity make up a personalized plate of Christmas goodies.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

First Baptist hosts Graceful Journey event

WORTHINGTON -- The Graceful Journey Project is a program of the Minnesota Council of Churches in partnership with Twin Cities Medical Society Honoring Choices with support from the Bush Foundation.

Presentations on the Graceful Journey Project will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 9 at First Baptist Church, 1000 Linda Lane. Participants will learn and practice how to discuss significant and sensitive issues and gain understanding in the context of your faith to leave a legacy of choice to family and friends.

Lutfisk & Meatball Dinner at local church

WORTHINGTON -- The annual Lutfisk and Meatball Dinner will be served Sunday at First Lutheran Church, 12th Street and Fourth Avenue.

There will be two separate seatings at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Included with the meal will be lefse, green beans, giftas, potatoes, white sauce, rice pudding with lingonberries and Scandinavian cookies. Santa Lucia and the Star Boys Tomtes will also pay a visit.

Tickets are available in advance at Ax Photo and Hy-Vee or by calling the church, 376-6148. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Supplemental funds are available from Thrivent.

Gospel Gold offers concert in Sibley

SIBLEY, Iowa -- The Gospel Gold Quartet will perform a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Christian Reformed Church, 115 Maple Drive, Sibley.

Gospel Gold is a traditional four-part male quartet from Sioux Falls, S.D., that was formed by experienced singers to promote and perform a variety of gospel music with a special focus on old hymns and anthems.

Quartet to perform Christmas concert

GEORGE, Iowa -- The Ladies Quartet, a gospel quartet from Boyden, Iowa, and the surrounding area, will present a Christmas concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, George.

Group members are Mary Jo Huls, Marlys Korthals, Marilyn Maurer and Colleen Niemeyer.

Live Nativity coming up at Shetek ministries

SLAYTON -- "Heaven and Nature Sing" will be the theme for the Live Nativity Dec. 8 at Shetek Lutheran Ministries.

The open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in the chapel. The event will include Christmas lights, special Christmas music and refreshments and cookies in the SLM dining hall. New this year will be horse-drawn trolley rides provided by Gerry Buse of St. James.

A free-will offering will be taken.

SLAYTON -- A cookie sale, also featuring goodies and crafts, will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2105 King Ave.

Coffee and rolls will be served.

Snow date is Dec. 15.
