American Lutheran focuses on ‘The Story’

WORTHINGTON — The congregation at American Lutheran Church will also immerse in “The Story” starting Sunday.

“The Story” is an abridged, condensed, chronological Bible that reads like a novel. Each week a different Bible story will come alive for all ages through worship and study.

Episodes of “The Story” will be the basis for Sunday worship services at 8 and 10:15 a.m. as well as Christian education at every age level, including Sunday school and adult classes.

One Way to perform at Sibley Christian Reformed

SIBLEY, Iowa — One Way, a gospel quartet, will perform a concert at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sibley Christian Reformed Church, 115 Maple Drive.

One Way has performed in the area since 1990. Members are Ginger Nobles, Tim Mauldin, Mary Jo Huls, Marilyn Maurer and Craig Johnson. Four of the members are second-generation children of the Ambassador Quartet from George, Iowa.

Worthington Christian starts small group series

WORTHINGTON — Worthington Christian Church, 1501 N. Douglas Ave., will start its next small group series, “Acts of God,” on Sunday.

Five different groups will meet at various times, dates and locations.

Bible Bowl Team has pie fundraiser on Sunday

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Bible Bowl Team will sell slices of pie along with ice cream, juice and coffee from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ocheda Orchard, located south of Worthington.

The team is raising money for the Bible Bowl national tournament, set for June in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Methodist Women serve turkey luncheon

LAKE WILSON — The United Methodist Women will serve a hot turkey luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Lake Wilson American Legion building.

The menu will include hot sandwiches, potato salad, assorted salads, refrigerator desserts, coffee and milk.

Soup and Pie Supper at Emmanuel Presbyterian

RUSHMORE — A Soup and Pie Supper will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 31828 Jones Ave., rural Rushmore.

A free-will offering will be taken for the meal.

Ham on the menu at Grace Lutheran Church

WORTHINGTON — The Fall Harvest Dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at Grace Lutheran Church, rural Worthington.

The menu will include baked, bone-in ham, real mashed potatoes, corn, salads, buns, pie,

coffee and juice.

Grace Lutheran Church is located at 78396 340th Ave., nine miles east of Worthington on Nobles County 35 and ¼ mile north; or 11 miles west of Minnesota 86 on Jackson County 34 and ¼ mile north.

Beginning Experience plans weekend retreat

SLAYTON — Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota, a peer ministry support group for widowed, separated and divorced people, is offering a weekend retreat, “A Path to Healing.”

The retreat is scheduled for Oct. 17-19 at Shetek Lutheran Ministries, located on Keeley Island on Lake Shetek near Slayton.

The retreat is intended to provide participants with the opportunity to “encounter self and grow with a purpose to achieve inner peace. The experience is to help close the door gently on the past and move on with renewed hope and purpose.”
