Open house showcases restored windows

WORTHINGTON — First Lutheran Church recently completed a restoration project for its stained glass windows. An open house to give the public an opportunity to see the restored windows will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1200 Fourth Ave., Worthington.

Coffee and baked goods will be available for a free-will offering, with proceeds going toward window expenses.

The public is also invited to worship services at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Soup and Pie Supper at Emmanuel Presbyterian

RUSHMORE — A Soup and Pie Supper will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 31828 Jones Ave., rural Rushmore.

A free-will offering will be taken for the meal.

Fall Festival set for Sunday at St. Mary’s

WORTHINGTON — St. Mary’s Fall Festival will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s School, 1206 Eighth Ave.

A turkey dinner will be served. There will also be booths, games, baked goods and a Big Ticket drawing. A live auction will begin at 2 p.m.

Catholic Aid matching funds are available.

Methodist Women serve turkey luncheon

LAKE WILSON — The United Methodist Women will serve a hot turkey luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Wilson American Legion building.

The menu will include hot sandwiches, potato salad, assorted salads, refrigerator desserts, coffee and milk.

Ham on the menu at Grace Lutheran Church

WORTHINGTON — The Fall Harvest Dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, rural Worthington.

The menu includes baked, bone-in ham, real mashed potatoes, corn, salads, buns, pie, coffee and juice.

Grace Lutheran Church is located at 78396 340th Ave., nine miles east of Worthington on Nobles County 35 and ¼ mile north; or 11 miles west of Minnesota 86 on Jackson County 34 and ¼ mile north.

Bible Bowl Team has pie fundraiser on Sunday

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Bible Bowl Team will sell slices of pie along with ice cream, juice and coffee from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ocheda Orchard, located south of Worthington.

The team is raising money for the Bible Bowl national tournament, set for June in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fall dinner coming up at Ellsworth parish

ELLSWORTH — St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth will have it Fall Dinner on Oct. 5. Serving will be from 4 to 7 p.m.

The menu will feature roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, corn, relishes, diner rolls, pies, desserts, coffee and milk.

There will also be a country store, shopping cart raffle, basket raffle, quilt raffle, fish pond and Big Ticket items.

Beginning Experience plans weekend retreat

SLAYTON — Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota, a peer ministry support group for widowed, separated and divorced people, is offering a weekend retreat, “A Path to Healing.”

The retreat is scheduled for Oct. 17-19 at Shetek Lutheran Ministries, located on Keeley Island on Lake Shetek near Slayton.

The retreat is intended to provide participants with the opportunity to “encounter self and grow with a purpose to achieve inner peace. The experience is to help close the door gently on the past and move on with renewed hope and purpose.”
