Robert Harold Truckenmiller

Robert Harold Truckenmiller was born at Sibley, Iowa, November 16, 1943, the son of Melvin Lee and Marie (Ray) Truckenmiller. He grew up in Allendorf, Iowa, where he attended country school and later graduated from Sibley High School.

He was united in marriage to Diane Hormel at Ocheyedan, Iowa, on June 5, 1964. They made their home in Ocheyedan.

Bob was employed by the Osceola County Highway Department for 40 years, retiring in 2005. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at the CEA lumberyard in Ocheyedan.

Bob was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years, serving as Scoutmaster to Troop 174 in Ocheyedan for 40 years, and earning the Silver Beaver Award, along with many others. He was a member of the Ocheyedan Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years; served as mayor of Ocheyedan for two terms; was a past member of the Ocheyedan Park Board, and the Senior Activity Center Board, where he served as president. He also served as Ocheyedans representative on the Emergency Management Board; on the Osceola County Zoning Commission; and the United Methodist Church Board of Trustees.

Bob liked woodcarving, ice fishing and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed wintering in New Braunfels, Texas, and traveling to see the kids and grandchildren.

He passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 49 years, Diane Truckenmiller of Ocheyedan, IA; two sons: Tim and his wife, Stephanie Truckenmiller and their children, Kaeley and Brayden of Germantown, WI, Greg and his wife, Rachel Truckenmiller and their children, Jack, David, and Thomas of Johnstown, NY; his step-mother, Kathy Truckenmiller of Sibley, IA; three brothers: Dennis and his wife, Roberta Truckenmiller of Sibley, IA, Thomas Truckenmiller of Hinsdale, IL, and Mathew and his wife, Tanya Truckenmiller of Brandon, SD; and a sister-in-law, Mavis Truckenmiller of Tucson, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Marie Truckenmiller; an infant daughter, Susan; one brother, Alan Truckenmiller; and a sister-in-law, Linda Truckenmiller.

Memorial Services will be Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, Iowa. Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating.

There will be no burial at this time. Roberts body was cremated.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 26 from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan.

Memorials will be given to Osceola Community Hospice and The International Myeloma Foundation.
