Robert "Swede" Lundgren

Robert “Swede” Lundgren, age 90, a lifelong Worthington resident, born July 8, 1923, passed away July 27, 2013 at Crossroads Care Center. Swede graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1941 and attended Worthington Junior College. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Swede married Donna Baltes in 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. He worked in the sporting goods industry most of his life. Swede and Donna owned and operated Lundgren Sporting Goods from 1960 to 1985. In retirement they wintered in Arizona.

Swede is survived by his wife, Donna; their children, Tom (Karen), Jean (Tom) Fauskee, Jim (Linda); 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
