Rock County Fair begins Monday

LUVERNE — The 2014 Rock County Fair gets under way Monday, with the five-day event offering livestock shows, concerts and other activities such as an antique tractor parade on Friday.

The midway features Midwest Rides on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The commercial exhibit buildings will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. The Floral Hall building doors open at 10 a.m. daily, and the Rock County Historical Buildings open at 1 p.m. daily starting Thursday.

The schedule for the fair as follows:


10 a.m.: 4-H Fashion Revue Judging

3 p.m.-6 p.m.: 4-H Non-perishable Exhibit Judging

5 p.m.-8 p.m.: Open Class Non-Perishable Registration


3 p.m.-6 p.m.: 4-H Cloverbuds/Foods/Gardening/Club Exhibits Judging

3 p.m.-7:30 p.m.: Open Class Non-perishable or Perishable Exhibit Registration

6 p.m.: 4-H Poultry Show

7:30 p.m.: Micro Sprints (Grandstand Event)

8 p.m.: 4-H Rabbit Show


8 a.m.: 4-H Swine Show

11 a.m.: 4-H Dairy Show

2 p.m.: 4-H Goat Show

3:30 p.m.: 4-H Sheep Show

5 p.m.- 6:30 p.m.: Bruce Dysthe

5:30 p.m.: Beef Feed (Prepared by the Rock Nobles Cattlemen’s Association)

6:30 p.m.: 4-H Dog Exhibition Show

7 p.m.: Rock County Talent Show (Sponsored by Sioux Valley Energy, Grandstand Event)


8 a.m.: 4-H Beef Show

10 a.m.: 4-H Horse Training

10:30 a.m.: 4-H Showmanship

Noon: 4-H Horse Pleasure Show

2:30 p.m.: Senior Citizens Day Program (Ron and Jane Cote,Under the Tent)

4 p.m.- 7 p.m.: Free Nitrate Testing (Rock County Land Management)

4:30 p.m.: 4-H Pet Show

5:30 p.m.: 4-H Fashion Revue (Under the Tent)

5:30 p.m.: Pork Feed (Prepared by the Rock County Pork Producers Association)

8 p.m.: Antique Tractor Parade (Ken Voss and Friends)

8 p.m.: Arch Allies Concert (Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon Tribute Band, Grandstand Event)

Saturday, July 26

9 a.m.: 4-H Livestock Ribbon Auction

11 a.m.: 4-H Horse Games Show

2 p.m.: Kids Pedal Pull

4 p.m.: 4-H Premier Showmanship

6 p.m.: 4-H Parade of Champions

7 p.m.: Bio Fuels Enduro Race (Sponsored by the Rock County Corn and Soybean Assn., Grandstand)

8 p.m.-Close: Bum Steer (Live Music in Beer Gardens)
