Search continues for drowning victim
SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- Searchers spent all day Monday looking for a person who drowned Sunday evening in West Lake Okoboji, but had yet to find the body.
Crews are searching an area approximately 90 acres in size and in 40 feet of water for 35-year old Juan Miguel Gonzales of Sioux City, Iowa.
The drowning was reported to the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday, after Gonzales entered the water from a boat and didn't resurface.
A full search was conducted until dark Sunday, with a surface search continuing overnight. The underwater search resumed Monday morning.
Assisting the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office are the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive Team, Spirit Lake Fire Department, Okoboji Police Department, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Dickinson County Emergency Management.
