Sheldon’s Celebration Days offer activities Labor Day weekend

SHELDON, Iowa — Sheldon’s Celebration Days give many reasons to stay closer to home this Labor Day weekend. The majority of the celebration activities will take place Monday, Sept. 1 starting with a Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at the Sheldon Regional Airport. The Emmy Award winning “The Zinghoppers Show” stars will take the stage as part of Funky Possum’s Dance Party. The family-friendly show begins at 10:30 a.m. in the city park. Shuttle services will be available for free all day providing rides from the city park to the car show and Union Depot.

7:30 p.m.: “Hello Dolly” by the Sheldon Community Theatre, High School Auditorium


8 a.m.: 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament in the Streets, in front of the Movie Theatre

1:30 p.m.: Mini Rod Tractor Pulls, Sheldon Horse Arena

7:30 p.m.: “Hello Dolly” by the Sheldon Community Theatre, High School Auditorium


2 p.m.: “Hello Dolly” by the Sheldon Community Theatre, High School Auditorium

6 p.m.: Community Worship Service and Ice Cream Social, City Park

7 to 10 p.m.: Classic Car Cruise, Cook’s Cafe/Langer’s Bar and Grill


All Day: Free Shuttle Service from City Park to the Car Show and Depot

6:30 to 11 a.m.: Fly-In Pancake Breakfast and Aircraft Display, Sheldon Regional Airport

8 a.m.: 5K Walk/Run and 10K Run, Northwest Iowa LLRC

8 a.m.: 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, Northwest Iowa LLRC

9 a.m. to Noon: Union Depot open house, activities

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Farmers Market, City Park

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Arts and Crafts in the Park, City Park

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: R.R.R. (Re-Read, Re-Use, Re-Cycle), City Park

9 a.m. to Noon: Sheldon Prairie Museum open

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Classic Car Show, Sheldon High School parking lot

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: 11th Annual Tractor and Equipment Display, City Park West Ball Diamond

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Inflatables, Mini Ferris Wheel, Mini Train and Photo Booth, City Park

10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Mr. Twister, City Park

10:30 a.m.: Funky Possum’s Dance Party, stage on West Ball Diamond

11 a.m.: Rick Colen, City Park

Noon: Alex Clark, stage on West Ball Diamond

2 p.m.: Celebration Days Parade, downtown
