Shooting victim still in critical condition

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the victim in Sunday's shooting in Rock Rapids, Iowa -- Levi David Hofer, 50, was still considered to be in critical condition in a Sioux Falls, S.D. hospital Monday afternoon.

According to information released Sunday night, the sheriff's office responded to a 911 call at approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday on Tama Street. Upon arrival, authorities found a female with injuries and a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The woman was treated and released, but the male, Hofer, was flown to Sanford Hospital.

"Due to conflicting stories and information that conflicts with evidence, we have requested the state of Iowa crime scene lab to process the house," a release states.

Lyon County has also requested that the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) assist with the case.
