Sibley's 'Good Ole Summertime' this weekend
SIBLEY, Iowa -- So far, it hasn't felt much like summertime due to the unseasonably cool weather, but the community of Sibley hopes to change that this weekend. Sibley's Good Ole Summertime will kick off on Saturday, a week earlier than in recent years.
"Sheldon has its Risefest the following weekend, and they've got one of the guys from 'Duck Dynasty' coming," explained Sibley Chamber Director Sheryl Peters, referring to a popular reality TV show, "so we decided to change it to this weekend."
In addition to the date, there are a couple of other changes and additions to the festival calendar, Peters noted. The parade, which previously had been later in the afternoon, will head down Sibley's main drag at 2 p.m. They've also added a pedal tractor pull for the youngsters and a tractor show for the oldsters, both after the parade.
"We're just wanting some of the guys with those neat tractors to come and show them off for us," said Peters.
Registration forms for the tractor show are available at the Chamber office, but Peters encourages anyone with show-worthy machinery to just show up on Saturday. For more information, phone (712) 754-3212.
