SOUTHERN CONFEDERACY FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Southern Confederacy teams put up plethora of points

MADELIA -- Seth Nuffer scored an offensive and defensive touchdown while Dalton Bass rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown and also caught one of Jordan Larson's three touchdown passes as the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots upended the Madelia Blackhawks, 36-6, Friday night in a Southern Confederacy conference 9-man football tilt.

Larson completed 8-of-20 passes for 139 yards with the first touchdown pass going to Nuffer in the first quarter on a 23-yard pass.

Jeff Sandbulte had a hand in both of the Patriots' scores in the second quarter as he caught a 40-yard pass from Larson and then blocked a punt, which Nuffer recovered and returned for a 28-yard touchdown.

Larson connected with Bass (three catches for 54 yards) in the third quarter for an eight-yard touchdown strike and Bass later completed H-BC's scoring with a 20-yard run.

Taylor Leuthold led the Patriots' defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery while also rushing for 52 yards on five carries for the Patriots.

Ryan Reit (five tackles), Devin Klarenbeek (four tackles) and Bass (four tackles) each had a sack while Nuffer (six tackles) had two fumble recoveries and AJ Hoogeveen intercepted a pass for the H-BC defense.

The Patriots host Cleveland Friday.

ALDEN -- Jake Comnick rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns and also caught three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown to lead the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers to a Southern Confederacy victory over Alden-Conger.

Comnick scored on runs of 14 yards and 37 yards in the first quarter and added a 55-yard scamper in the third quarter.

Dana Madson (10 rushes for 66 yards) ran in a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter while Nick Lehnhoff (5-for-8 passing for 57 yards) hurled a touchdown pass to Comnick for a 26-yard score before the half.

Andrew Merrick rounded out W-WG's scoring in the fourth quarter with a six-yard touchdown run.

Placekicker Simon Egaas was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts.

Derick Ourada and Matt Otto led the Chargers defense with 13 and nine tackles, respectively, while Lehnhoff (one interception) and Levi Bunting each had seven tackles.

Madson also intercepted a pass for W-WG (1-1), which hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain Friday.

CLEVELAND -- It took Edgerton/Ellsworth one play to score its first touchdown of the night.

Turned out, there were seven more to come.

Isaac Heard accounted for five touchdowns and the Flying Dutchmen (2-0) rolled past Cleveland in a Southern Confederacy contest.

On the first play of the game, Heard threw a 51-yard touchdown strike to Casey Schilling, and E/E followed with a two-yard run by Derek Voge (nine carries, 40 yards). Heard found Schilling (four catches, 108 yards) for a 16-yard touchdown strike as E/E had a 24-0 lead after the first quarter.

Heard then started the scoring in the second quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run before he threw a 40-yard scoring pass to Devin Hulstein (three rushes, 41 yards, two catches, 86 yards).

Blake Jouwstra scored on an eight-yard run and Heard capped the first-half scoring with a 65-yard scamper, giving the Dutchmen -- who were 7-for-8 on two-point attempts -- a 54-6 lead at halftime.

Dan Kramer finished the scoring with a 65-yard punt return.

Heard finished 7-for-12 passing for 201 yards, and 117 yards rushing on eight carries.

E/E had 475 yards of total offense and held the Clippers to negative three yards rushing in the game.

Johnny Menning had nine tackles and three sacks, while Voge had nine tackles, a sack and an interception.

DC Claar added seven tackles and two sacks.

E/E will host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Friday.
